John Chiara Taking Stock
Over several days look through all of your photographs for this project or starting point - those that are personal, collected, or vernacular, along with those you consider your best photographic work.
Think of which photographs you respond to most and which no longer make sense for you to keep in the photography collection. Think carefully about how to reorganize and categorize your photographs as a whole and singular collection. Focus on any relationships within the photographic collection and organize them accordingly. What kind of collection of photographs do you have? Create a collection of your top 5 photographs.
Write an essay defining your photography collection along with any new insights you have discovered about what has quietly emerged as your collection of photographs over this course. Take some time to visualise the collection of photographs you eventually want to make.

Linda Connor Visual source diary
Create a visual source diary. Each week, find the work of five photographers or artists who interest you. Books are best, but your sources can include exhibitions or websites. Print at least one key image from each source. For each entry write in hand the artist name, title and a brief response to the work. Both the personal response and the physical act of writing will help you remember the work better than if you were to just type.
Keep all of these entries in a ring binder. This is essential because you can reorganize and resequence it as your collection grows. By the end of the term you will have over 70 different entries in your folder. Each ring binder folder will be your unique reflection of your interests and developments, a valuable guide as your art practice develops.
